Safeguarding and Child Protection Statement

At Storybook, we believe that children learn best when they are healthy, safe, and secure — when their individual needs are met and when they build positive, trusting relationships with the adults who care for them.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements guide us in creating welcoming, safe, and stimulating environments where children can learn through play, grow in confidence, and reach their full potential.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Our Proprietor and Leadership Team ensure that all staff receive safeguarding and child protection training when they join our setting, with regular — at least annual — refresher training to keep knowledge and practice fully up to date.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to extremist religious or partisan political views within our teaching or care.

Safeguarding and protecting children, young people, and families is everyone’s responsibility. At Storybook, we follow robust policies and procedures to ensure every child is protected and supported. Each setting has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who oversees all safeguarding arrangements, provides advice and support to staff, and liaises with Children’s Services and the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board (LSCB).

To ensure full coverage, Deputy DSLs are also appointed to act in the DSL’s absence. Both DSLs and Deputy DSLs receive regular safeguarding training through the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, ensuring their knowledge remains current and effective. The identities of the DSL and Deputy DSLs are clearly displayed on posters around the nursery.
